This painting was produced in 1988 as the cover to the book Divided Allegiance the second book in The Deed of Paksenarrion trilogy by author Elizabeth Moon published by Baen Books.
The series is about the development in body and spirit of a young farmgirl who leaves home to embark upon a quest to become a paladin warrior. In the second book includes a dramatic arena combat scene which I chose as the inspiration for this cover image.
This painting was produced in acrylic on artboard.
